Meditation offers a time for peace, and an invaluable tool for positive life changes, decision-making and overall relaxation. In our Adult Introduction Class, we will present a comprehensible approach to the mind/body connection through meditation, and it's daily applications & the role it plays in achieving & maintaining health & wellness. We will discuss the many benefits of meditation, including stress relief, effects it has on the heart & breath, pain management-both emotional and physical- mental clarity, our ability to experience calm & finding inner stillness in a chaotic world. We will be offering explanation, instruction & time to practice a variety of meditation techniques as well as tips for starting & sticking to a meditation practice. Participants also benefit from practicing regularly with a group, and individualized instructor observation. The meditation technique is taught in a gradual, step-by-step format over several class sessions. In addition to attending the weekly sessions, participants are also given suggestions for intervening practice meditations at home. This insures that every participant will gain enough insight and experience with both the technique and the underlying principles to either begin meditation independently or continue in advancing instruction by the end of the basic course.
We offer a class designed for both comprehensive beginning & continuing secular meditation participants; no previous experience is necessary. Meditation can be learned and utilized as a beneficial practice by people of all ages, beliefs, and physical abilities. This program offers breathing/relaxation practice and guided meditation. Meditation promotes relaxation and stress/pain reduction, a better relationship with one’s body, increased concentration and attention, better memory, reduction of anxiety, and an overall sense of well-being. Please bring a blanket to the 1st class. You will have the choice of sitting on a chair or on the floor in a more traditional position; chairs will be provided. Individual comfort needs will be discussed during the first class with suggestions of items to bring from home to make your session more comfortable and productive.
Whether you seek to learn how to meditate, or are an experienced meditator seeking to expand your practice, and/or appreciate the facilitation that meditating with a group provides, these offerings welcome you. A calm, still place exists within us all. Meditation is a proven method for discovering that place within you. Come join us !
